Welcome to Mrs. White's Art Homepage

I am excited about this semester and all of its possibilities! We will be exploring concepts in the visual arts. We will be working together in groups and as individuals to maximize our creative potential. A large portion of our class will be a simulation of what it is like to be a working artist in a design firm. Hopefully, this will bring some real life work skills into our classroom to create a dynamic experience for students. We will also create some individual art pieces as well. I look forward to seeing our students create amazing works, and I hope we have a very productive semester.

Sincerely,
Natalie White

February 4th through February 8th
We will finish our drawings from last week. We will begin drawing one half of a face. This drawing focuses on line, shape, space, and value. We will also begin our study of art as a career.

January 22nd through 25th
We will begin working on our study of line. We will look at the five different types of line (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, curved, and zigzag). We will also look at line quality (lines of varying thick and thinness and different textures such as rough or smooth).Students will create drawings showing their ability to use these various types of lines and line qualties. In these drawings, students will also be asked to consider space and shape in their drawings.

January 14th through 18th
We will be studying color. We will create color wheels and discuss color schemes. We will be using paint on the color wheel, so please be aware that our paints may stain clothes. Students may choose to dress accordingly for the color wheel project. Students will create drawings using cool, warm, complementary, and analagous color schemes.

January 7th through 11th
Students will be introduced to classroom policies and procedures. We will also begin to get acquainted with one another as students creat drawings that visually represent who they are as a person. Look for a course information sheet to come home on the students' first day of class. Parents, please sign and return that form once you have reviewed it.
