The Valentine Party Jam is after school this Thursday. DJ Fire will be back to play all your favorite music and there will be a photo booth so you can have your picture taken with all your friends. Dancing isn’t required but you might get to see a couple of teachers dancing. Don’t worry there will be plenty of space to sit and hang out with your friends. Admission to the dance is $3 for PTSA members and $5 for non-members. Pictures will be just a dollar.

NOMINATION GUIDELINES

It is the time of year for our staff, students, and parents to have the opportunity to nominate the Moses Middle School TEACHER OF THE YEAR. This person will represent Moses in the Paulding County Teacher of the Year selection process.

Nominations need to be based on strong positive characteristics as an educator in regards to student relationships and collegiality with peers throughout the building. Candidates would be seen as role models for other educators and individuals who play an active supporting role in the school environment.

Criteria for the Nominees:

All teaching staff and media specialists are eligible for nomination.
Letter of recommendation stating why you are nominating this person.
Nominees must have at least three years teaching experience in the district.
Be able to serve the school and district for the 2013-2014 school year.

Please turn in your nominations to the front office. All nominations are due to Mr. Sailors by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013.

According to district guidelines, a selection committee of the Principal, parent representatives, and principal designees will review the nominations to make a final selection. The names on all nomination forms will be covered when the committee reviews the written recommendations.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

STUDENTS VS. TEACHERS VOLLEYBALL GAME

This free family fun event will take place on Tuesday, January 29 Moses gymnasium.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

There will be a brief PTSA General Membership meeting at 6:00 and the game will begin around 6:15. Don’t worry about dinner because we’ll be selling pizza, nachos, popcorn, drinks and somethingsweet. Concession prices will range from $1.00-$4.00.

We’re looking for 62 students to be a part of the student team. We want to have three student teams – one from each grade. With this in mind, we are seeking three students from each homeroom in 6th and 8th grade and four students from each homeroom in 7th grade.

Sign-ups will take place before homeroom on Wednesday, January 16

and Thursday, January 17 in the gymnasium.

Sign-ups will be on a first come first served basis. All students interested in playing must complete a Participation Form and return it school immediately.

Participation Forms will be given to students at sign-up. The winning team will be awarded a “Golden Volleyball” which will be showcased in the school display case.

All Students are invited to attend our second annual dance which will take place on December 11th from 3:45pm to 5:15pm in the Gym. Come socialize with your friends while listening to the sounds of DJ Fire!! Admission is $5.00 or $3.00 for PTSA members. (Students remember to bring your PTSA membership card) Concessions will be available!! Prices for concessions range from $.50-$1.50. So come on out and have some holiday fun with your friends!!!!

‘Tis the Season' for Candy Cane Grams

Candy Cane Grams will be available for students to purchase December 10-14 during lunch in the cafeteria on Tuesday and Thursday. Before Homeroom on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Candy Cane Grams are a fun way for students to recognize a friend by sending them a special holiday candy cane. Each Candy Cane Gram costs $1.00 (BOGO for PTSA members). Students choose what message they want to appear on the Candy Cane Gram from the following choices:

Parents, if you would like to purchase a Candy Cane Gram for your student, please send PTSA a note telling us the name of the student, homeroom teacher and the message you would like, along with the sender's name. Again, the cost is $1.00

The Candy Cane Grams will be distributed to the students during homeroom on December 20^th.

Parent Summit – October 18th

You are invited to attend a Parent Summit at EPHS on Thursday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. The Parent Summit will give an overview of the District Attorney’s new Outreach Program that is already being introduced to 8th and 9th graders at some schools. Please bring your teenagers and come learn about the criminal justice system and specific areas of the law that applies to them. The information presented will probably shock you and most likely scare your teenager straight! Trust us; you will not want to miss this presentation.
