Our staff member spotlight is on Cathy Hamilton, our amazing guidance counselor.

Ms. Hamilton was born in Louisiana, raised in California, and has lived in Paulding County for about 20 years. Her son, Zach, is 14 and plays football. Her daughter, Madison, is 12 and takes hip-hop dance.  Ms. Hamilton loves horses, and she hopes to work with therapy dogs one day. She has worked in the Paulding County School System for 11 years, and she has been at Dugan Elementary since the first year it opened in 2005.

Here are some things people have said about Ms. Hamilton:

She is always working to make things better for the students.

She reaches out to the community for assistance, organizes the school's backpack program, and works tirelessly!

On the rare occasions that she is able to actually sit down to eat lunch, she is often interrupted by a parent visit, a phone call, a student needing to talk, or any number of crises. She eagerly leaves her lunch to attend to the problem.

She is one of the hardest people to track down in the building because she is actively in the halls, the classrooms, or the offices trying to make life a bit easier for the students here at Dugan.

In addition to constantly having the kids' needs on her mind, Ms. Hamilton frequently takes work home with her.

Whatever the need that arises, she always figures out the best thing to do.

Not only is she someone the students go to with their problems, but she gladly listens to and trys to help staff members who may be going through tough times in their personal lives.

Ms. Hamilton, thank you for being a role model to everyone here at Dugan Elementary.  We love you!
