Dear Parents, Students, Teachers, and Members of the McGarity Community,
In the midst of this holiday season, tragedy struck an elementary school in another state. Our first thoughts seem to be" Why? " followed by "Could it happen here?" and then "What is being done to protect my child?"
McGarity, like all Paulding County Schools, has a safety plan that is reviewed and revised yearly; we do monthly drills with our students as well monthly faculty drills where different crises are presented and the faculty needs to resolve them correctly and quickly, with everyone knowing their assigned duties.
There is no predicting what accident, act of violence, or act of nature will happen to any individual. The only thing we can do is be responsible and consider all possibilities that could take place, and the best way to deal with each one. Then we look to get whatever technology resources or human resources can help us achieve the goal of keeping everyone safe, and we put them in place.
During this busy week and the months ahead, you may find yourself inconvenienced by the latest security piece we put into place. If that happens, please know that we are not trying to inconvenience anyone. We only want to keep our students safe. Please call me at 770-445-9007 if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Barbara G. Cook, Principal |
