My name is Scott Brock and I am both excited and proud to be your principal at W.C. Abney Elementary. We take great pride in the students and staff here and believe in continuing previous successes. We’ve had an exciting year so far, and it’s hard to believe how fast this school year is flying by!
This is our third year in our new building, however we are continuing a tradition of excellence that began in the late 1800’s as a one room schoolhouse known as New Hope School. Abney’s reputation within the county has become one of quality, excellence, and service. Through the dedication of staff, parents, and students, we have built a school culture that is more than just an educational setting.
We are excited to have you as a part of our school family. We strongly encourage you to partner with your child’s teacher as soon as possible to maximize your child’s success. Parent volunteers are a valuable part of the Abney Family and we appreciate your participation. You might also visit our PTA's website on a regular basis to keep up with how they are working to help our kids and our community.
Our students have recently taken their second nine weeks Checkpoints and District Benchmark Assessments. Each of our grade level teams is using these results during grade level planning and collaboration to determine how to help our students master the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. I’m very proud of the hard work our teachers and staff put into providing quality learning experiences for our students.
Please remember that we continue to ask that all visitors sign in at our front desk and get a visitor’s sticker. We also want to ensure that we preserve our valuable instructional time, and we appreciate our parents’ cooperation and understanding with this. To avoid interruptions, we ask that you pre-arrange visits to your child’s classroom or make appointments to meet with your child’s teacher.
Thank you so much for all you do to help make Abney an incredible school. Please know that I am always open to comments and suggestions to make our great school even greater.
Scott Brock, Principal
