NPHS Student Organizations and Clubs
School sponsored clubs (excluding competitive interscholastic activities or events) are those under the sponsorship, direction and control of the school that organize and meet for common goals, objectives, and purposes. State law requires that parents have the right to withhold permission for their student to participate in any school sponsored club or organization designated by them. If you do not wish for your student to participate in any of the clubs/organizations listed below, please indicate the name of the club/organization, sign in the space provided and return to your student’s school. If a club is added during the year, you will be provided information on the club and your written permission will be required prior to your student's participation.

ACADEMIC TEAM
Club Description: Academic Team is a scholastic competition for high school students. Teams from participating schools compete against each other in a series of matches between October and February, with the top teams advancing to the championship tournament. Questions in Academic Team matches cover subject matter from Georgia's high school curriculum as well as current events. There is an emphasis on language arts, science, math, and social studies. The Academic Team competes in GHSA sanctioned Literary Events.

NATIONAL BETA CLUB
Club Description: Beta is an academic honors program with a strong emphasis on community service. Its purpose is "to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership and service among elementary and secondary school students." NPHS also offers Odyssessy of the Mind, a competitive division of the National Beta Club.

(DECA) DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION CLUBS OF AMERICA
Club Description: DECA is a co-curricular organization for students who have a career interest in marketing, finance, hospitality and tourism, entrepreneurship, management, or business administration. DECA allows students to compete and learn about marketing skills needed to be successful in today’s business world.

(FBLA) FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA
Club Description: Georgia FBLA is a nonprofit student organization committed to preparing today's students for success in business leadership. With over 50 years of experience, Georgia FBLA is the premiere organization for student leaders. Georgia FBLA is an affiliate of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc., the largest student business organization in the world with more than 250,000 members. Georgia is also the largest FBLA chapter in the nation with over 20,000 members.

(FCA) FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES
Club Description: We are a student led Christian faith-based club. Our goal is to minister into the lives and meet the needs of athletes, coaches and anyone who enjoys athletics. We will continue to meet on a regular weekly basis. We will do service projects to help feed teachers and athletic teams. We will also look for ways to serve in our community

(FCCLA) FAMILY. CAREER. AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA
Club Description: To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

Club Description: As recycling club members, we strive to promote recycling, reducing, and reusing within the school environment as well as giving students and staff the knowledge necessary to help make the world a " greener " place!

(HOSA) HEALTH OCCUPATION STUDENTS OF AMERICA
Club Description: Health Science Technology Education (HSTE) is a national student organization that provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, post-secondary, collegiate, and adult students enrolled in health occupations education courses or instructional programs. HOSA's purpose is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students.

INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN SOCIETY
Club Description: The International Thespian Society refers to the world's largest honor society for theatre students. The designation "Thespian" includes student members who excel in technical production fields as well as performance in their high school theatre. Students are inducted in the Society after meeting the goal of 10 Thespian points equaling 100 hours of work in high school theatre. Additional stars are awarded in increments of 60. Honor Thespians are recognized when a student maintains a 3.0 or higher grade point average.

ARMY JROTC
Club Description: The NPHS Army JROTC program was formed in 2011. Our mission is "To motivate young people to be better citizens." Our Army JROTC program is a military based class that focuses on building a sense of responsibility, integrity, respect, discipline, and teamwork. We offer the following teams: Academic Team, Colorguard, Drill Team, Leadership Team and Raider Challenge Team.

(NAHS) NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY
Club Description: National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is designed specifically for high school students in grades 9-12. In 1978, the National Art Education Association began the National Art Honor Society program specifically for high school students, for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art.

(NHS) NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Club Description: The National Honor Society (NHS) is a recognition program for high school students in grades 10 through 12 in the United States and in several other countries. NHS honors those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

(SADD) STUDENTS AGAINST DESTRUCTIVE DECISIONS
Club Description: Originally, the mission of the SADD chapter was to help young people say "No" to drinking and driving. Now SADD has become a peer-to-peer education, prevention, and activism organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, risky and impaired driving, teen violence, and teen suicide.

(SGA) STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION
Club Description: The purpose of this organization shall be to encourage and foster strong relationships between the student body, faculty, administration, and community, to improve student participation, increase school spirit and pride, provide orderly planning and execution of school events, provide a forum for student expression, and promote the welfare of all members of the North Paulding schools and community. We strongly believe that the Student Government Association (SGA) of North Paulding High School is an educational instrument designed to provide learning experiences in leadership and opportunities for practicing world class and first class qualities.

(SKILLS USA) STUDENTS TAKING ACTION WITH RECOGNITION
Club Description: SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled work force. It helps each student excel. SkillsUSA serves teachers and high school students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupation, including health occupations. More than 300,000 students and instructors join SkillsUSA annually, organized into more than 17,000 sections and 54 state and territorial associations.

SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Club Description: This honor society is an invitation only group. Being a member is a privilege given only to those members who have shown their dedication to the Spanish language through academic excellence and pursuit of extra opportunities to use the language. Students in levels 3, 4, and AP with at least an overall GPA of 3.0 and a grade of 85% or better are invited to induction. The group will meet 1/2x a month to share interest in the Spanish language and to perform public service. This honor society offers and advanced level of activities and companionship to those who enjoy the language and culture. It is an affiliate with the national organization and its members may participate in the national convention, trips, scholarship opportunities and scholarly publications. Seniors should include membership in the Spanish NHS on their college applications and will be given the opportunity to wear Honor Cords during NPHS Graduation Ceremonies.

SPORTS MEDICINE
Club Description: The NPHS Sports Medicine Program strives to promote excellence in healthcare for athletics. Students are the main focus of the program. This program has allowed students insight into the field of sports medicine/athletic training along with many others careers in the healthcare industry.
